This article ask for the central axes of the union government policy and the meanings that allowed obtaining the adhesion to its political project during the period 2004-2017 in the Trade Union of Employees of Commerce of San Juan, Argentina. Based on in-depth interviews and participant observation, it was possible to reconstruct the deployment of the strategic vision of leadership, from the analysis of relations with the union delegates, affiliates and their families, companies, the State and political party. The findings found in the debate about the argentine union model for trade unions and the revaluation of the political sense of their social function. Este artículo indaga sobre los ejes centrales de la política de gobierno sindical y los sentidos que permitieron lograr la adhesión a su proyecto político durante el periodo 2004-2017 en el Sindicato de Empleados de Comercio de San Juan, Argentina. A partir de entrevistas en profundidad y observación participante, fue posible reconstruir el despliegue de la visión estratégica de la conducción, desde el análisis de las relaciones con el cuerpo delegado, los/as afiliados/as y sus familias, las empresas, el Estado y partido político. Los hallazgos contribuyen al debate en torno al modelo sindical argentino para los gremios del sector comercio y a la re-valorización del sentido político de la función social gremial.
