Between 1917 and 1975 (year of creation of most of the Provincial Teacher Training Institutes), the teaching profession in the province went through different times. This work aims to analyze the journey through the history of teacher training in Río Negro between the period 1917 to 1975. It will be observed how the teaching career was linked from its beginnings to more well-off social classes and the operation of its institutions was translated in self-government actions by these social classes. In this sense, it will also be seen how the game of state presences and absences (Troulliot, 2001) gives the necessary space for these actions to develop over time.
