However, meanings on the space of proximity do not recreate linealy those infrastructural deficits. On the contrary, they are framed by a complex symbolic structure, which solves tensions between public and private-household spacialities, uses and state’s acknowledgment, as well as city’s images, formalization horizons and informal conditions. Analysis is based on a series of semi-structured interviews, developed in 2021.  El artículo analiza representaciones sociales sobre el espacio barrial entre habitantes de un barrio popular del Gran Buenos Aires, ubicado en el Municipio de Quilmes y caracterizado por una fuerte vulnerabilidad socio-ambiental. Sin embargo, los sentidos del espacio de proximidad no espejan linealmente los déficits infraestructurales sino que se sitúan en una compleja estructura simbólica, que resuelve las tensiones entre espacialidades públicas y privado-domésticas, usos y reconocimientos estatales, así como imágenes de la ciudad, horizontes de formalización y condiciones informales.
