Considering that the place exists because it is both local and global at the same time (Santos; 1996), it is that this bet is made. In a context of expansion of agricultural frontiers, expansion of commodity exports and the end of the concession granted for the beaconing and dredging of the Paraguay-Parana waterway, the port, infrastructure and logistic reconversion projects of Santa Fe become relevant. Through a multi-method work that recovers different empirical evidences, we propose to study the geostrategic centrality that Santa Fe acquires as the last overseas port and as a place of connection of the waterway with the bioceanic corridor. We focus on the process of reorganization of the city imposed from the verticalities (Santos; 1993). Specifically, on the actions being undertaken by the provincial and local governments together with the main productive entities of the city, in pursuit of the refunctionalization and relocation of the port of Santa Fe associated with the development and readaptation of infrastructure and logistics in the waterway. El presente trabajo se propone analizar la incidencia de la Hidrovía en un lugar: la ciudad de Santa Fe. La apuesta de este artículo considera que el lugar existe por ser al mismo tiempo local y global (Santos; 1996). En un contexto de ampliación de las fronteras agropecuarias, de expansión de las exportaciones de commodities y de finalización de la concesión otorgada para las tareas de balizamiento y dragado de la Hidrovía Paraguay Paraná, cobran relevancia los proyectos de reconversión portuaria, de infraestructura y logística de Santa Fe. A través de un trabajo multimétodo que recupera diferentes evidencias empíricas, nos proponemos estudiar la centralidad geoestratégica que adquiere Santa Fe como último puerto de ultramar y como lugar de conexión de la Hidrovía con el corredor bioceánico. Nos centramos en el proceso de reordenamiento de la ciudad impuesto desde las verticalidades (Santos; 1993).
