Sumario:The aim of this paper is to analyze the incidence of the waterway in a place: the city of Santa Fe. Considering that the place exists because it is both local and global at the same time (Santos; 1996), it is that this bet is made. In a context of expansion of agricultural frontiers, expansion of commodity exports and the end of the concession granted for the beaconing and dredging of the Paraguay-Parana waterway, the port, infrastructure and logistic reconversion projects of Santa Fe become relevant. Through a multi-method work that recovers different empirical evidences, we propose to study the geostrategic centrality that Santa Fe acquires as the last overseas port and as a place of connection of the waterway with the bioceanic corridor. We focus on the process of reorganization of the city imposed from the verticalities (Santos; 1993). Specifically, on the actions being undertaken by the provincial and local governments together with the main productive entities of the city, in pursuit of the refunctionalization and relocation of the port of Santa Fe associated with the development and readaptation of infrastructure and logistics in the waterway.
