This article inquires into the meaning of the category of "Nature" from a critical examination of the conditions of inquiry in the context of the global environmental crisis. An exploration in a dialectical key is presented from this point of view. The process of historical discontinuity and continuity in the meaning is reconstructed, with the aim of both revealing the range of notions and uses currently associated with "Nature" that constrain the systematic treatment of environmental conflicts and problems, and making these notions intelligible from the understanding of their implicit assumptions and conditions of signification, derived from the dominant historical directions in the interaction with the material surroundings. The historical turning points in meaning will be highlighted by virtue of two dialectical axes: those that have brought associated turns in the conceptualization of the "social", and that have led to reinforce the correspondence between broad epistemological programs of inquiry and economic-political models of governance and transformation of reality. |

En este artículo se interroga el significado de la categoría de “Naturaleza” desde un examen crítico sobre las condiciones de interrogación en el marco de la crisis ambiental global. A partir de esto se presenta una investigación en clave dialéctica. Se reconstruye el proceso de discontinuidad y continuidad histórica en el significado, con el objetivo tanto de revelar el rango de nociones y usos asociados actualmente a “Naturaleza” que condicionan el tratamiento sistemático de los conflictos y problemáticas ambientales, como de hacer inteligibles estas nociones a partir de la comprensión de sus supuestos y condiciones de significación implícitas, derivadas de las direcciones históricas dominantes en la interacción con los entornos materiales. Los puntos de inflexión históricos en la categoría se destacarán en virtud de dos ejes dialécticos: aquellos que han traído giros concomitantes en la conceptualización de lo “social”, y que han llevado a reforzar la correspondencia entre programas epistemológicos de investigación de la realidad y modelos económico-políticos de gobierno y transformación de la misma. Este artigo interroga o significado da categoria "Natureza", examinando criticamente as condições de interrogação no contexto da crise ambiental global. Nesta base é apresentada uma investigação dialética. O processo de descontinuidade e continuidade histórica do significado é reconstruído, com o objetivo de revelar o espetro de noções e usos atualmente associados à "Natureza" que condicionam o tratamento sistemático dos conflitos e questões ambientais, e de tornar essas noções inteligíveis através da compreensão dos seus pressupostos implícitos e condições de significação, derivados das orientações históricas dominantes na interação com os ambientes materiais.
