From surveys conducted archaeological sites were detected in surface position composed of lithic and pottery. The presence of lithic artifacts in this area are not recorded natural outcrops near the archaeological sites used to evaluate the existence of a circulation circuit of raw materials between the interior plains and the Uruguay River in pre-Hispanic times. Finally the presence of pottery let us argue that at least some of the sites surveyed correspond to late Holocene. Este trabajo presenta los resultados de las investigaciones arqueológicas realizadas en el departamento Villaguay, ubicado en el centro de la provincia de Entre Ríos. Con el objeto de lograr un primer acercamiento al registro arqueológico de la región, las tareas de campo se focalizaron sobre el río Gualeguay y sus principales afluentes. A partir de las prospecciones efectuadas se detectaron conjuntos arqueológicos en posición superficial compuestos por materiales líticos y alfarería. La presencia de artefactos líticos en esta zona donde no se registran afloramientos naturales cercanos a los sitios arqueológicos, permite evaluar la existencia de un circuito de circulación de materias primas entre las llanuras interiores y el río Uruguay en momentos prehispánicos.
