Sumario:Based on the case of the Alpargatas footwear factory located in the town of Aguilares (in the south of the province of Tucumán), the article aims to analyze the global transformations in the footwear industry –focusing on the policy of outsourcing production– and its impact on workers in the sector. For this purpose, the article analyzes, first, the route of the emblematic company and its gradual absorption by foreign capital. Second, global transformations in the footwear industry. And finally, tensions and representations that are expressed territorially between company, trade unions and workers because of these transformations.
