To do so, the performance of ten state-owned firms is examined in four fundamental indicators: sales revenue, prices and rates, fixed real investment, and level of internal and external indebtedness. The statistical analysis was carried out with secondary sources, based on the sigep balances. The studies that investigated the economic performance of state-owned firms are very scarce and they did so, above all, for the import-substitution period, in the boom of state-owned companies. In this sense, the analysis of the performance of the most relevant public services and energy companies, during the decline of the entrepreneurial state, constitutes a relevant and original approach.   El propósito de este artículo es analizar el desempeño económico-financiero de las empresas públicas bajo la órbita de la Sindicatura General de Empresas Públicas (SIGEP), en un contexto de grandes transformaciones estructurales como fue la última dictadura cívico-militar argentina. Para ello, se examina la performance de diez firmas estatales en cuatro indicadores fundamentales: ingresos por ventas, precios y tarifas, inversión real fija y nivel de endeudamiento interno y externo. El análisis estadístico se realizó con fuentes secundarias, en base a los balances y publicaciones de la sindicatura. Los trabajos que investigaron el desempeño económico de las firmas estatales son muy escasos y lo hicieron, sobre todo, para el período sustitutivo, en el auge de las empresas de propiedad estatal.
