Focus on the the road infrastructure and urban corridors, allows us discover the richness represented by these elements, such development inductors linked to mobility, the connection between nodes and the operation in network of the territories. This work is structured in two parts: a theoretical part where the organizer potential of road infrastructure is recognized, and its impact as accelerator in urban sprawl in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area; an empirical part where takes place an overview of the Nuevo México- Tesisitán urban corridor in the municipality of Zapopan, Jalisco, classified in two models of interpretation: a) as the base of the morphological structure in the northern periphery ; and b) as an enhancer of urban development, leaded by real estate brokers. This will reveal the processes of growth and transformation experienced by the metropolitan area during the last decades. En este artículo se examinan los corredores urbanos como elementos estructurantes de la forma urbana. El enfoque en la infraestructura vial y los grandes corredores urbanos, nos permitirá revelar la riqueza que representan estos elementos como ejes de crecimiento y desarrollo urbano, vinculados a la movilidad, la conexión entre nodos y el funcionamiento en red de los territorios. Este trabajo se estructura en dos partes: una parte teórica en donde se reconoce el potencial ordenador de los corredores urbanos, y el impacto que producen como aceleradores de la expansión urbana en el Área Metropolitana de Guadalajara; y una empírica, en donde se realiza un análisis general del corredor urbano Nuevo México- Tesistán, catalogado en dos modelos de interpretación: a) como base de la estructura morfológica del perímetro norte en el municipio de Zapopan, Jalisco; y b) como un nuevo enclave de desarrollo urbano para el mercado inmobiliario.
