Without completely discrediting its relevance, this article aims to show the risk placed by this type of popularization that lead to the simplification of capitalism`s critique. After identifying some theoretical consequences of the extensive use of accumulation by dispossession, an alternative path is proposed. From the point of view provided by the set of determinations associated to the real subsumption of social reproduction under capital, are offered two mechanisms which support a different kind of capital’s accumulation: the appropriation of social productive forces as a basis for technological innovation and the imposition of a diet adequate to the capital’s logic. Mechanisms that can be presented and criticized through the case of corn. This perspective allows us to identify and criticize the transformation of the material content of social life, such as food and science, according to the capital’s accumulation needs and not only the processes of transferring property rights encompassed by accumulation by dispossession. La acumulación por desposesión es una de las categorías marxistas más empleadas en la actualidad y en especial para explicar las transformaciones en el sector agroalimentario. Sin desacreditar su pertinencia por completo, este artículo tiene por objetivo mostrar el riesgo que supone este tipo de popularizaciones y que pueden llevar a la simplificación de la crítica al capitalismo. Después de identificar algunas consecuencias teóricas del uso extensivo del concepto de acumulación por desposesión se propone un camino alternativo. A partir del mirador proporcionado por el conjunto de determinaciones asociadas a la subsunción real del proceso de reproducción social al capital se ofrecen dos mecanismos que sustentan una acumulación de capital diferente: la apropiación de fuerzas productivas sociales como base de la innovación tecnológica y la imposición de una alimentación adecuada a la lógica del capital. Mecanismos que pueden ser presentados y criticados a través del caso del maíz.
