Among several aspects that build up inbreeding in this field, the following are mentioned: practical endogamy, endogamy of influence or dependence on bibliographic sources, endogamy of lack of controversy, and systemic endogamy. The editorial concludes with several case studies and a call to abandon endogenous professional attitudes as a strategy for the survival of the discipline. Al cumplirse los 50 años de la creación del Instituto de Investigaciones Bibliotecológicas (INIBI), como tema de este editorial, se ha elegido estudiar las conductas endogámicas en la Bibliotecología / Ciencia de la Información. Entre varios aspectos que cimentan la endogamia en este campo, se citan los siguientes: la endogamia práctica, la endogamia de influencia o dependencia de fuentes bibliográficas, la endogamia de carencia de polémica, y la endogamia sistémica.
