Based on information obtained during this fieldwork, and that from the previous study of the nearby town of Rio Pico, our initial expectation was that human occupation of the Genoa Valley occurred in recent times. In this paper, however, we present data on human skeletal remains from the Fabiana Elizabeth archaeological zone, which dates to the Middle Holocene. This leads us to extend the time-depth of human presence in the area. We present the results of the field survey and the cotext of the finding, as well as the bioarchaeological and taphonomic analysis of the human skeletal remains. These results are discussed within a regional context. El valle del río Genoa se localiza en la precordillera del centro-oeste de la provincia del Chubut, en un ambiente de estepa. Las investigaciones arqueológicas sistemáticas en la zona comenzaron en el 2012, focalizándose en la localidad de José de San Martín. Sobre la base de la información obtenida en esos primeros trabajos, y la previamente registrada en la vecina localidad de Río Pico, la expectativa inicial era que la ocupación humana del valle correspondiera a momentos tardíos. No obstante, en este trabajo, presentamos información sobre restos óseos humanos provenientes de la localidad arqueológica Fabiana Elizabeth cuya antigüedad se remonta al Holoceno Medio, lo que lleva a extender la profundidad temporal de la presencia humana en el área.
