Besides the introduction, the text is divided into four topics: first is a brief history of the merchant marine and shipbuilding Brazilian late nineteenth century to 1960, emphasizing the financial and institutional changes that have created the basis for the formation of the Brazilian naval industry . Will then be pointed the relationship between the process of industrialization in Brazil and the role of the state. Thirdly, I will detail the orders made by Companhia de Navegação Lloyd Brasileiro, Frota Nacional de Petroleiros (FRONAPE-PETROBAS) and DOCENAVE (Vale do Rio Doce) next to Brazilian shipyards within the various plans focused on shipbuilding. Finally, we will highlight the beginning of the partial dismantling of the shipbuilding industry, the rapid obsolescence of Lloyd Brasileiro, privatization of Vale do Rio Doce and the choices made by FRONAPE in making acquisitions abroad. The final consideration will bring brief reflections on the strong symbiosis between state and national industry in the formation of a national economy and cast glances at the current moment of euphoria and recovery of the Brazilian naval industry, again anchored by PETROBAS.

La presencia de la industria de la construcción naval en Brasil nos lleva de vuelta al siglo XIX, cuando se registraron en las principales ciudades costeras de pequeños astilleros y arsenales Marina. Pero fue a partir Plan de Metas (1956-1960), en Río de Janeiro que esta industria se ha enfocado y desarrollado un conjunto interrelacionado, sobre la base de los grandes sitios con alta capacidad de difundir e incorporar innovaciones. Entre 1960 y 1985, la industria de la construcción naval pesado brasileño experimentó un período de prosperidad anclado en la renovación de la flota mercante nacional financiado por la Superintendência Nacional da Marinha Mercante (SUNAMAM). El objetivo de este trabajo es mostrar que los pedidos hechos por las compañías navieras y aumentó la fiscalía alegó grupo astillero en el país. Por último, vamos a destacar el inicio del desmantelamiento parcial de la industria de la construcción naval, la rápida obsolescencia de Lloyd Brasileiro, las decisiones tomadas por Fronape en realizar adquisiciones en el extranjero y la privatización de Docenave. La consideración final traerá breves reflexiones sobre la simbiosis entre el Estado y una fuerte industria nacional en la formación de una economía nacional. Resumo A presença da indústria naval no Brasil nos remete ao século XIX, quando havia nas principais cidades do litoral pequenos estaleiros e arsenais da marinha. Mas foi a partir do Plano de Metas (1956-1960) que no Rio de Janeiro esta indústria se concentrou e desenvolveu um aglomerado inter-relacionado, pautado em grandes estaleiros, com alta capacidade de difundir e incorporar inovaçÁµes. Entre os anos de 1960 e 1985, a indústria da construção naval pesada brasileira viveu um período de prosperidade ancorado na renovação da frota mercante nacional financiada pela Superintendência Nacional da Marinha Mercante (SUNAMAM). O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar que as encomendas realizadas pelas empresas de navegação estatais sustentaram e impulsionaram a indústria naval brasileira. Além da introdução, o texto está dividido em quatro tópicos: inicialmente faremos uma breve trajetória da marinha mercante e da construção naval brasileira do final do século XIX a 1960, destacando as mudanças institucionais e financeiras que criaram as bases para a formação do aglomerado. Em seguida, será apontada a relação entre o processo de industrialização no Brasil e o papel das estatais. Num terceiro momento, detalharemos as encomendas feitas pela Companhia de Navegação Lloyd Brasileiro, Frota Nacional de Petroleiros (FRONAPE-PETROBAS) e DOCENAVE (Vale do Rio Doce) junto aos estaleiros brasileiros dentro dos vários planos voltados para a construção naval. Por fim, destacaremos o início do desmonte parcial da indústria da construção naval, o rápido sucateamento do Lloyd Brasileiro, a privatização da Vale do Rio Doce e as opçÁµes feitas pela FRONAPE em fazer novas aquisiçÁµes no exterior.
