Thus, the present work aims to generate an analysis of the behavior profiles of two mediating variables: social support networks and meanings about retirement. To do so the steps corresponding to a non-experimental, ex post facto, explanatory cross-sectional study. were followed. The sample was made of 300 adults, aged over 60, retired, residing in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, Argentina, who answered a socio demographic and Retirement Data Questionaire, the Inventory of Social Resources for the Elderly and the Questionnaire of Meanings about Retirement. The corresponding analyses for the data were carried out, which allowed knowing the profiles of retired elder adults in terms of their social support networks and the meanings they attribute to retirement. Based on this, the existence of three types of profiles was found: favorable, adverse and ambivalent. The findings of this study provide interesting data on the development of profiles that can influence adaptation to the changes associated with retirement

Los cambios sociales, a su vez, pueden resultar estresantes y generar correlatos negativos sobre la salud. Sin embargo, existen diversas variables mediadoras que intervienen en el fenómeno de la adaptación a la jubilación. Diversos estudios han estudiado a las mismas, generalmente de forma aislada. Así, el presente trabajo se propone generar un análisis sobre los perfiles de comportamiento dos variables mediadoras: las redes de apoyo social y los significados acerca de la jubilación.Para esto, se siguieron los pasos correspondientes a un estudio no experimental, ex post facto, explicativo de corte transversal. La muestra se encontró conformada por 300 adultos mayores de 60 años, jubilados, residentes en el Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires, Argentina, que respondieron un cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos y jubilatorios, el Inventario de Recursos Sociales para Ancianos y el Cuestionario de significados acerca de la jubilación.Se realizaron los análisis correspondientes para los datos, que permitieron conocer los perfiles de los adultos mayores jubilados en cuanto a sus redes de apoyo social y los significados que atribuyen a la jubilación. En función de esto, se encontró la existencia de tres tipos de perfiles: favorable, adverso y ambivalente.
