Su producción historiográfica más importante se sitúa en el período de la entreguerra. Luego de servir en la guerra del 14 alcanzando el grado de capitán con cuatro menciones de honor abrazó la pluma con el mismo ardor con el que había empuñado las armas. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial una vez más la defensa de la patria lo arrancaba de su oficio de historiador. En la Gran Guerra, Marc Bloch estuvo entre los primeros ciudadanos que se enlistaron para detener el avance alemán. Its most important historiographical production lies in the interwar period.
