description This work aims to question the incidence that normally is attributed to the movement of prices as a determinant of peasant production option. Historiography usually related to this postulate deduction of the alleged negative impact of prace policy rates, as they would have had the effect of cause a reduction of production and consequently of the supply of goods. As specific examples, we analyze prices rates from the middle of the 13th century and some documentary references of susbistence crisis from the beginning of the 16th century. Questioning the usefulness of the concept of economic agent derivate of the orthodox theory it is concluded highlighting by contrast the difference between the logic of consumption feature of media producer and the logic of valorization that characterizes the sectors dedicated to speculative trade.
