This analytical perspective, characteristic of “new military history,” is not the result of a haphazard evolution in the field of historiography; rather, it reflects its adaptation to new perspectives that emerged in the second half of the 20th century and have continued in recent decades. The dialogues established with social and cultural history -conceived within a broad spectrum- have shaped the development of various analytical frameworks that use concepts such as identity, gender, class, and networks to examine the phenomenon of war as a social experience.
