This paper aims to determine the presence of scientific journals of Paraguay present in online databases with national and Latinamerican coverage and describes their main characteristics. The study was observational, descriptive and transversal, carried out during the month of September 2013. The following portals were consulted: Latindex Directory, Latindex Catalog, Electronic Links Latindex, SciELO Paraguay, DIALNET, DOAJ, CLACSO, LILACS, E-magazine and Redalyc. In general, the presence of scientific journals of Paraguay in online databases is scarce, most of them are print versions, issued twice a year and by universities, they were mostly journals in the health area. Further studies are considered necessary to know the reason that magazines fail to be visible and establish national strategies for scientific journals to increase their visibility in the country. La disponibilidad de las revistas científicas a través de las bases de datos en línea o servicios de indexación facilita el acceso a la producción científica,  hace  visible tanto las investigaciones del productor de la información como la producción científica de un país o área temática. En este trabajo se pretende determinar la presencia de las revistas científicas de Paraguay presentes en las bases de datos en línea con cobertura nacional y de la región de Latinoamérica y describir sus principales características. El estudio fue descriptivo observacional de corte transversal, realizado en el mes de setiembre de 2013. Se consultaron los portales de: Latindex Directorio, Latindex Catálogo, Latindex Enlaces Electrónicos, SciELO Paraguay, DIALNET, DOAJ, CLACSO, LILACS, E-revista y Redalyc. En general, la presencia de las revistas científicas de Paraguay en bases de datos en línea es escasa, en su mayoría están en formato impreso, de frecuencia semestral, editadas por universidades, se observó también mayoritariamente revistas del área de la salud. Se considera necesario realizar más estudios para conocer la razón por lo que las revistas no logran ser visibles y establecer estrategias nacionales que permitan a las revistas científicas del país aumentar la visibilidad.
