This double movement uncovers a web of affective, cultural and educational ties that build a friendship refractory to the “phallogocentric” exclusivity of the hegemonic discourses on this bond from Aristotle to Nietzsche, as Jacques Derrida has observed in Politics of Friendship (1998). We are interested since this scheme finds its climax in the fraternization of modern democrats represented by the republican model derived from the French Revolution, the premises are present in the ideology of the three educators. So, at the epicenter of this scheme, the relationship built in the heat of correspondence gives an exceptional and paradigmatic result, while pointing to a bright spot in the incipient demand for gender equality in Argentina. En este artículo proponemos revisitar la figura de Mary Peabody Mann a través del intercambio epistolar que mantuvo con Domingo Sarmiento y Juana Manso, donde su figura se singulariza y, a la vez, se refleja en ellos. Ese doble movimiento des-cubre una trama de lazos afectivos, culturales y educativos que construyen una amistad refractaria a la exclusividad falogocentrista de los discursos hegemónicos sobre este vínculo desde Aristóteles hasta Nietzsche, tal como ha observado Jacques Derrida en Políticas de la amistad (1998). Nos interesa puesto que este esquema encuentra su punto álgido en la fraternización de las democracias modernas representadas por el modelo republicano derivado de la Revolución francesa, cuyas premisas están presentes en el ideario de los tres educadores. De manera que, en el epicentro de este esquema, la relación construida y fraguada al calor de la correspondencia resulta paradigmática y excepcional, al tiempo que señala un punto luminoso en la incipiente reivindicación de la igualdad de género en Argentina.
