The experience deals with the accompaniment of the teacher in the construction of place for student participation, called Student Center, in a primary school in Chile. It investigates the educational meanings that unfold in the experience by means of narrative methodology. As results, the metaphors “to hold hands” and “to listen” are proposed, as well as the relevance of the game, as key elements in the pedagogical act. In conclusion, the importance of inquiring into teachers' knowledge in order to construct meanings and reflect as a community of teachers is sustained. El presente es un trabajo de indagación narrativa que busca estudiar y reflexionar sobre una experiencia educativa y su aporte para la formación ciudadana. La experiencia trata sobre el acompañamiento del docente en la construcción de un espacio de participación estudiantil, denominado Centro de Alumnos/as, en una escuela primara en Chile. Indaga en los sentidos educativos que se despliegan en la experiencia mediante la metodología narrativa. Como resultados se proponen las metáforas “tomar de la mano” y “ponerse a escuchar”, así como la relevancia del juego, como elementos claves en el acto pedagógico. A modo de conclusión se sostiene la importancia de indagar en el saber docente para construir sentidos y reflexionar en comunidad de enseñantes. Subsecretaría de publicaciones.
