BCE/CE, exploring their relationship with the biblical wilderness sojourn traditions. Sacred travels constituted a significant element in the religious and afterlife world of the local peoples, for whom the (re-)visiting and (re-)construction of ancient sacred places were common. The evidence will be analyzed taking an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on the archaeological and epigraphical signatures of pilgrimage. A longue durée approximation will allow to see how the diverse traditions related to the wilderness sojourn were adopted, re-appropriated and re-configured in meaningful ways through time.
