It concludes that it is advisable to consider the relationship between political emotions and the emergence of social conflict in crime prevention processes in contemporary intermediate cities. For this purpose, documentary research methods are used, which consider the selection, organization and analysis of a set of pertinent propositions for its development. En este ejercicio académico se presenta una propuesta innovadora que contribuye al diálogo criminológico sobre la prevención del delito, consiste en la formulación de un marco conceptual y teórico para la gestión de la seguridad ciudadana y la garantía del derecho a la ciudad a partir de los postulados de la teoría de las emociones políticas. Se concluye la conveniencia de considerar dentro de los procesos de prevención del delito en las ciudades intermedias contemporáneas la relación existente entre las  emociones políticas y el surgimiento del conflicto social. Para ese objetivo se emplean las metodologías de investigación documental que contempla la selección, organización y análisis de un conjunto de proposiciones pertinentes para su desarrollo.
