From data provided by remote sensing and its subsequent geospatial analysis with Geographic Information Systems, annual rates of change, gains, losses, total changes, net changes, persistence and exchanges in LULC were calculated, as well as their respective cartographic representation. The results reveal that 21.82% (10,734,685.36 ha) of the study area experienced some type of change in LULC. A considerable deterioration was evident in the category of natural woody vegetation, with a loss in terms of net change of -14.77% (7,264,231.21 ha). This reduction is mainly associated with the expansion of agricultural activities in the region, where the crop and pasture categories showed the greatest gains in surface area, with 9.54% and 3.64% respectively. The analysis also identified two large areas with the greatest transitions in the LULC, an extensive strip in the northwest of the ecoregion, with a north-south orientation, and another in the center-east. El presente trabajo analiza los cambios en las Coberturas y Usos de la Tierra [CUT] en la ecorregión del Chaco Seco argentino entre 1985 y 2022, haciendo foco en la pérdida de la vegetación leñosa natural debido a la deforestación que se genera principalmente por el avance de la frontera agropecuaria. A partir de datos provistos por Teledetección y su posterior análisis geoespacial con Sistemas de Información Geográfica, se calcularon tasas anuales de cambio, ganancias, pérdidas, cambios totales, cambios netos, persistencia e intercambios en las CUT, así como su respectiva representación cartográfica. Los resultados revelan que un 21,8 % (10.734.685,36 ha) del área de estudio experimentó algún tipo de cambio en las CUT. Se evidenció un deterioro considerable en la categoría de vegetación leñosa natural, con una pérdida en términos de cambio neto del -14,7 % (7.264.231,21 ha). Los resultados demuestran que la combinación de productos derivados de la Teledetección y los Sistemas de Información Geográfica constituye un instrumento que, operado bajo un marco conceptual y metodológico adecuado, facilita el monitoreo y la evaluación de los cambios en las CUT, proporcionando información confiable que respalda la formulación de políticas de desarrollo sostenible y su incorporación en los planes de Ordenamiento Territorial.
