In recent decades, with the rise of language documentation, multimedia resources and collections of annotated sound records have become available in different repositories and digital platforms for consultation and use for scientific, educational and dissemination purposes. The aim of this paper is to offer a brief overview of these experiences of study and documentation of the Nivaĉle language, as well as the different initiatives for linguistic promotion and normalization of the language carried out by the Nivaĉle people in Paraguay that led to the creation of the Nivaĉle People's Language Academy. Las experiencias de documentación y estudio de la lengua nivaĉle (mataguaya, Chaco argentino y paraguayo) se remontan a mediados del siglo pasado por medio de la labor de los misioneros oblatos en Paraguay quienes publicaron los primeros esbozos gramaticales y el primer diccionario sobre la lengua. En las últimas décadas, con el auge de la lingüística de la documentación, se encuentran disponibles recursos multimedia y colecciones de registros sonoros anotados en distintos repositorios y plataformas digitales para su consulta y utilización con fines científicos, educativos y de divulgación. El objetivo del presente trabajo es ofrecer un breve panorama sobre estas experiencias de estudio y documentación de la lengua nivaĉle, así como de las distintas iniciativas de promoción lingüística y normalización de la lengua protagonizadas por el pueblo nivaĉle en Paraguay que condujeron a la creación de la Academia de la Lengua del Pueblo Nivaĉle.  Universidad Nacional del Nordeste.
