Sumario:This study was undertaken with the purpose of obtaining new data to clarify the taxonomic position of Rayleya, a new and apparently monotypic genus. The paper describes stem anatomy, wood structure, leaf major and minor venation, epidermis, trichomes, petiole, mesophyll, nectaries and sclereids. The salient features of stem .anatomy are: cork of subepidermic origin, phloem arranged in triangular strands and stratified with fiber groups, mucilage cavities, vessels with simple perforations frequently arranged in radial groups, axial parenchyma scanty, rays heterogeneous 1-3 seriate.
