This approach seeks to overcome the inhibition or difficulty that students and researchers face when writing, so that writing becomes a more enjoyable and effective process. Rhetoric is valuable because it allows writing to be organised as a process of discernment, articulation and composition, which includes the operations of inventio, dispositio and elocutio. In addition, exercises on rhetorical figures raise awareness of the limits of language and sharpen precision in communication, doing justice to the complexity of human thought and experience. By reviving rhetoric, the aim is to make academic writing a desirable and precise practice, and to strengthen training in this fundamental skill for the production and transmission of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences. Este artículo breve propone la retórica como método y caja de herramientas provechosa para la enseñanza de la escritura académica en la universidad, especialmente en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales. Este enfoque busca superar la inhibición o la dificultad que estudiantes e investigadoras/es enfrentan al escribir y alentar la escritura como un proceso más placentero y eficaz. La retórica es valiosa porque permite organizar la escritura como un proceso de discernimiento, articulación y composición, que incluye las operaciones de inventio, dispositio y elocutio. Además, los ejercicios sobre figuras retóricas sensibilizan sobre los límites del lenguaje y agudizan la precisión en la comunicación, haciendo justicia a la complejidad del pensamiento y la experiencia humana. Al recuperar la retórica, se busca que la escritura académica se convierta en una práctica deseable y precisa, y fortalezca la formación en esta habilidad fundamental para la producción y transmisión de conocimiento en Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales.
