To attempt to rnake a list of them would be beyond my time a.nd energies and very likely incomplete. There is certainly a group of men with whorn 1 worked in closer contact and to whom the sense of gratitude is of higher arder of ma.gni Lude. They are the rnernbers of my thesis cornmittee, Professors Arnold C. Harberger (Chairman), Richard Parks, and Larry Sjaastad. 1 received a great number of useful and relevant insights out of a series of meetings with Professor Barberger. The contad with Professor Parks veas very fruitful in the design and elaboration of many experimenta atad statistical tests. Professor Sjaastad offered to me very generously quite a great portion of his time so that it became very difficult to conceal his ideas in the pagel that follows. The contact with thern all proved to be inspiring, generous and intellectually suggestive.
