The study focused on the material properties of the paints that aborigine societies were executing to display their graphic language. The organic and inorganic components were analyzed: pastes, patinas and coloring raw material. It was tried to determine what pigments, binders, additives and fasteners were used and what recipes were applied. During the development of the project, historical and ethnography information were analyzed, which allowed us to design actualistic studies. A multidisciplinary reading from the archaeology, the geology and the chemistry was needed to interpret the corpus of information. © 2011 Elsevier Masson SAS. Fil:Maier, M.S.
