Sumario: | Boeckella gibbosa considered as a doubtful species by Bayly (1992) is here redescribed and illustrated to confirm its validity. This taxon is part of a group of related species to which B. calcaris, B. palustris, B. vallentini and B. diamantina belong, being closest to B. calcaris. Diagnostic features of B. gibbosa are the male fifth pair of legs and the peculiar genital segment and the ornamentation of the fifth pair of legs of the female. This species is found in Andean lakes both on Argentine and Chilean slopes from 32° to 42° S. © 1997 Kluwer Academic Publishers. |
